WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?

Anyone looking to begin or continue working in the offshore renewable energy industry. Everyone is expected to hold a valid, in date GWO fire awareness certificate which must be refreshed every 2 years by sitting the GWO Fire awareness refresher course.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
The aim of this BST (R) Fire awareness module is to give basic knowledge and skills to prevent fires and conduct initial and appropriate judgement when evaluating a fire to review and build on previously gained knowledge and skills through theoretical and practical training so that delegates can prevent fires, make initial and appropriate judgement when evaluating fire, and, if it is judged to be safe, to efficiently extinguish an initial fire by using basic hand-held firefighting equipment in accordance with the GWO Refresher Training.

At the end of this course you will be able to:

• demonstrate knowledge of the development and spread of fire
•  demonstrate knowledge of the development and spread of fire
•  identify any sign of a fire in a wind turbine environment
•  demonstrate knowledge of the contingency plans in a wind turbine environment including smoke detection and emergency escape procedures.
• demonstrate correct actions on discovering a fire including correct operation and fire extinguishing by means of the firefighting equipment in a WTG.

AT THE END OF THIS COURSE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:

• Demonstrate knowledge of hazards and risks associated with working at height in a wind turbine
• Demonstrate an understanding of current legislation
• Demonstrate correct PPE identification, use, inspection, storage
• Demonstrate correct use of evacuation devices
• Demonstrate correct approach to rescue situations
• Demonstrate the importance of carrying out work duties in a safe manner and identify aspects of job role that could cause muscular/skeletal injuries

Anyone who will be working in the wind industry that may need to perform advanced rescue or lead an advanced rescue operation

COURSE OVERVIEW

This course will give delegates the skills, knowledge and confidence to perform rescue operations in a wind turbine using industry rescue equipment, methods and techniques which exceeds the GWO working at height.

AT THE END OF THIS COURSE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO

• Perform rescue operations in a wind turbine:
  • Hub, Spinner and inside a Blade
  • Nacelle, tower and basement
  • As a single rescuer

• Perform rescue operations using safe and suitable (certified or structural) anchor points, lifting angles, deviation, and edge protection for the rescue equipment
• Perform rescue operations using an injured person personal fall protection equipment backup system, when required.
• Perform rescue operations in poor lighting and enclosed space

CERTIFICATION

After successfully completing this course you will be issued a GWO Advanced rescue certificate valid for 2 years and uploaded onto your WINDA account.

GWO Advanced Rescue Training – Combined Refresher

WHO IS THE COURSE SUITABLE FOR?

Anyone who will be working in the wind industry that wishes to continue and build on the knowledge and skills from the Nacelle, tower and basement and Hub, spinner and inside blade training and refresh their GWO working at height and Manual Handling.

COURSE OVERVIEW

This course will give delegates the skills, knowledge and confidence to perform casualty rescue operations in a wind turbine nacelle, tower and basement and Hub, spinner and inside blade by using industry rescue equipment, methods and techniques which exceeds the GWO working at height.

AT THE END OF THIS COURSE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:

• Perform rescue operations in a wind turbine nacelle, tower and basement and Hub, Spinner and inside blade by using industry rescue stretcher/spine board and manual and power-driven lowering /raising equipment, methods and techniques to include packaging the casualty, carrying out regular checks whilst being aware of risks and hazards
• Apply rescue methods and techniques for ascending and descending rescue operations
• Perform rescue operations, in a WTG nacelle, tower and basement using suitable anchor points, lifting angles and deviations assessing and determining an evacuation strategy during rescue.
• Perform rescue operations as a rescuer and a coordinator applying clear communication and recognising hazards.

At the end of this course, you will gain GWO ART-Hub Refresher, GWO ART-Nacelle Refresher, GWO Working at Height Refresher and GWO Manual Handling Refresher certificates which will be uploaded on to your WINDA account, valid for 2 years

Everyone is expected to hold a valid, in date GWO Enhanced first aid certificate which must be refreshed every 2 years by completing a 2day Enhanced first aid course. This Enhanced First aid refresher gives delegates additional knowledge and skills to be able to administer safe, effective and immediate lifesaving and enhanced first aid measures to save lives and give assistance in remote areas using emergency equipment and medical tele-consultation.

Learning Outcomes

To learn to administer safe and effective First Aid in the Wind Industry environment in accordance with GWO Enhanced First Aid training through theoretical and practical training.

At the end of this course, you will be able to

Support and care for others that are working in the renewable industry by possessing the knowledge, skills and confidence to perform enhanced first aid. Upon completion of the GWO enhanced first aid course delegates will be able to administer safe, effective and immediate lifesaving enhanced first aid measures to not only save lives but to also give assistance in remote areas using more advanced equipment than a basic first aid would allow and conducting medical tele-consultation and ongoing monitoring.

A GWO First aid Certificate is not required to sit this course.

Learning Outcomes

AIM OF THIS COURSE
Anyone looking to begin or continue working in the offshore renewable energy industry. Everyone is expected to hold a valid, in date GWO Manual Handling certificate which must be refreshed every 2 years by completing a GWO Manual Handling Refresher Course.  The aim of this module shall improve and refresh delegates’ awareness through theoretical and practical training to encourage positive Manual Handling behaviour and perform Manual Handling tasks in a safe manner in the wind turbine industry/environment, in accordance with GWO BST/BSTR Manual Handling.

AT THE END OF THIS COURSE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO

Understand the importance of carrying out Manual Handling work duties in a safe and sound manner in accordance to with legislative requirements of your work location
Demonstrate understanding of safe practices of manual handling this includes the correct handling of equipment
Identify signs and symptoms of injuries related to poor manual handling and able to report it correctly.
Demonstrate a problem-solving approach to Manual Handling in wind turbine environment
Demonstrate Manual Handling risk reduction techniques

GWO BASIC SAFETY TRAINING – REFRESHER PACKAGE

The  GWO Basic Safety Training Refresher (BSTR) provides Delegates with, reviews and builds on a range of important skills and tools obtained during the GWO basic safety training courses, which include Fire Awareness, First Aid, Working at Heights and Manual Handling and  GWO Sea Survival training.

To learn to administer safe and effective First Aid in the Wind Industry environment in accordance with GWO First Aid training through theoretical and practical training.

AT THE END OF THIS COURSE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO

• Have achieved skills and basic knowledge in understanding the importance of carrying out first aid
• Identify risks and hazards and carry out the necessary first aid in regards to minor or serious injuries
• Provide knowledge of safety awareness in an emergency
• Correctly use an automatic external defibrillator as well as the correct use of first aid equipment.

WHO IS THE COURSE SUITABLE FOR?
Anyone looking to begin or continue working in the offshore renewable energy industry. Everyone is expected to hold a valid, in date GWO Sea Survival certificate which must be refreshed every 2 years by completing a 1 day GWO Sea Survival Refresher Course.

COURSE OVERVIEW
You will learn survival techniques and methods of safe transfer between vessels and installations.  Theoretical and practical training will give the basic knowledge and skills to act safely and take correct preventative actions in all aspects of offshore operations both during normal operation and in an emergency in an offshore wind energy environment.

AT THE END OF THIS COURSE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO
•    Demonstrate knowledge of dangers and symptoms related to hypothermia and drowning
•    Understand the limitations of different life-saving appliances (LSA), personal protective equipment (PPE) and personal fall protection Equipment (PFPE) used in the offshore wind industry
