WHO IS THE COURSE SUITABLE FOR?

Anyone looking to continue working in the offshore renewable energy industry. Everyone is expected to hold a valid, in date GWO Working at Height and Manual Handling certificate which must be refreshed every 2 years by sitting this GWO Working at Height and Manual Handling Refresher course.

COURSE OVERVIEW

The aim of this course is to review and build on previously gained knowledge and skills through theoretical and practical training so that delegates can administer safe and effective working at heights in the wind turbine industry/WTG environment in accordance with GWO Refresher Working at Heights and Manual Handling training.

AT THE END OF THIS COURSE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:

• Demonstrate knowledge of hazards and risks associated with working at heights in a WTG
• Demonstrate correct identification of PPE, including identification of European/Global standard markings on harness, hard hats, lanyards and other PPE and PFPE.
• Demonstrate the knowledge of and skills to correctly pre-use inspect, service, store and correct fitting of harnesses, fall arrest lanyard, work positioning lanyards and other PPE and PFPE.
• Demonstrate correct use of the relevant PFPE, e.g. harnesses, fall arrest lanyards, guided type fall arresters and work positioning lanyards. These include correct identification of anchor points and correct ladder conduct.
• Demonstrate correct use of evacuation devices
• Demonstrate how to approach rescue situations in WTG’s
• Identify signs and symptoms of poor manual handling injuries, reporting methods of these and the ability to correct poor handling of equipment

CERTIFICATION

AIM OF THIS COURSE
Anyone looking to begin or continue working in the offshore renewable energy industry. Everyone is expected to hold a valid, in date GWO Manual Handling certificate which must be refreshed every 2 years by completing a GWO Manual Handling Refresher Course.  The aim of this module shall improve and refresh delegates’ awareness through theoretical and practical training to encourage positive Manual Handling behaviour and perform Manual Handling tasks in a safe manner in the wind turbine industry/environment, in accordance with GWO BST/BSTR Manual Handling.

AT THE END OF THIS COURSE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO

Understand the importance of carrying out Manual Handling work duties in a safe and sound manner in accordance to with legislative requirements of your work location
Demonstrate understanding of safe practices of manual handling this includes the correct handling of equipment
Identify signs and symptoms of injuries related to poor manual handling and able to report it correctly.
Demonstrate a problem-solving approach to Manual Handling in wind turbine environment
Demonstrate Manual Handling risk reduction techniques

GWO BASIC SAFETY TRAINING – REFRESHER PACKAGE

The  GWO Basic Safety Training Refresher (BSTR) provides Delegates with, reviews and builds on a range of important skills and tools obtained during the GWO basic safety training courses, which include Fire Awareness, First Aid, Working at Heights and Manual Handling and  GWO Sea Survival training.

WHO IS THE COURSE SUITABLE FOR?
Anyone looking to refresh their certificates to continue working in the offshore renewable energy industry. Everyone is expected to hold a valid, in date GWO BST certificate which must be refreshed every 2 years.

COURSE TIMES

9am – 5pm Monday – Wednesday or Tuesday to Thursday

This consists of all 5 GWO Basic safety training course modules taken as one Package over 3 Days.

GWO Working at height with GWO Manual Handling – 1 Day
GWO Sea Survival – 1  Day
GWO Fire Awareness – 1/2 Day
GWO First Aid – 1/2 Day

It is the responsibility of the delegate to ensure they meet all the pre-requisites and provide documented evidence to that effect PRIOR to course commencement. Failure to do so could result in forfeit of all costs and course attendance.
