Description

Wind Turbine Safety Rules

The Wind Turbine Safety Rules (“WTSR”), when implemented correctly and appropriately, will:
• Represent industry good practice for safeguarding employees from the inherent dangers that exist from installed electrical and mechanical equipment in wind turbines.
• Assist in the development and application of safe systems of work in a consistent manner.
• Provide a robust approach to demonstrating legal compliance with relevant health and safety regulations.

The Wind Turbine Safety Rules course at OEG Training teaches safe systems of work, isolation, access control, and operational procedures for wind?turbine environments in line with Energy Institute WTSR standards.

The Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR) programme at OEG Training provides learners with the essential knowledge and practical understanding required to work safely within operational wind?turbine environments. Delivered in accordance with the Energy Institute’s Wind Turbine Safety Rules, this course equips learners to apply safe systems of work, manage isolations, control access, and maintain compliance with industry?approved safety procedures.

This course is designed for wind?turbine technicians, site managers, commissioning teams, maintenance personnel, and safety?critical staff who work on or around operational wind turbines.

It is suitable for individuals involved in mechanical and electrical servicing, troubleshooting, turbine access, isolation procedures, and operational control, where adherence to WTSR is essential for safe work.

The Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR) programme at OEG Training provides learners with the knowledge and practical capability to work safely within operational wind?turbine environments. This training covers safe?system?of?work principles, isolation procedures, access control, documentation requirements, communication protocols, and operational responsibilities, all aligned with the Energy Institute’s WTSR framework.

You will learn how to apply WTSR roles and responsibilities, implement safe access and egress, manage isolations, complete safety documentation, and maintain compliance with turbine?specific safety rules. Practical elements include scenario?based exercises, permit?to?work interpretation, isolation?point identification, and safe?system?of?work application.

The course is designed to enhance operational safety, reduce turbine?related hazards, and meet the latest Energy Institute WTSR standards recognised across the UK wind?energy sector.

At the end of the full Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR) programme, you will be able to confidently apply WTSR principles, implement safe systems of work, manage isolations, and ensure safe access to operational wind turbines. You will be able to interpret safety documentation, communicate effectively with operational controllers, and maintain compliance with WTSR requirements.

You will demonstrate competence in isolation procedures, access control, documentation accuracy, communication protocols, and safe?system?of?work compliance, meeting the latest Energy Institute WTSR standards required across the wind?energy industry.
